Top 3

The most popular baby names in Sweden in 2022 were Astrid (603 girls) and William (690 boys)!

Astrid entered the top 10 list back in 2017 and 2022 is the first year the name landed on the very top.

Maja (601 girls) is on the second place for the third year in a row. It has been a top 10 name for several years now, at the very top 3 times before. The top 3 name was Alma (596 girls). Last year it was on no 4.

William (690 boys) as been a top 10 name for more than 20 years now. This is the ninth year on the very top since 2003.

Liam (679 boys) is on the second place. In 2021 it was on no 3 and it has been among the top 10 most popular names for more than 15 years now. Noah (677 boys) entered the top 10 list 6 years ago and 2021 was the second year it reached to the very top of the list.

New Names on the Top 10 List

Freja and Leah are new names on the top 10 list of 2022. Leah is completely new. It climbed from no 14 last year to no 6. Freja had been up in the top 10 before (no 9 in 2017 and no 6 in 2020). 2022 it reached up to no 5 which is its highest ranking so far. Elsa and Wilma left the top 10 list.

Nils and August are the new entries on the top 10 list among the boys. For both of them it is the first time they reached the top 10. Elias and Adam left the top 10 list.

New Names on the Top 100 List

New female names are Leona, My, Laura, Alina, Felicia and Eira. The names which left the top 100 list are Bianca, Moa, Tilde, Cornelia and Elina.

New male names are Amir, John, Rayan, Bill and Allan which entered instead of Anton, Jonathan, Svante, Alvar and Daniel.

Highest Risers

Ronja (216 girls) is the highest rising female name. It raised from no 84 in 2021 to no 57 in 2022. Ture (251 boys) is the highest riser among the male names, climbing almost as high, from no 84 in 2021 to no 58 in 2022.

On the other hand there were some names that lost in popularity as well. The ones that fell deepest were Emilia among the female names (from no 40 down to no 62) and Sigge (from no 64 down to no 83) among the male names.
