In December 2022, 2 names were submitted to the Icelandic naming committee for approval. 2 of them were approved and no name was rejected:

Female Names

• Borghild: Previously, only the Icelandic form of the name (Borghildur) was allowed to be used in Iceland. Now also the form without the nominative ending was approved.
• Jakey: This variant form of Jackie was approved.
